In RE lessons at Springfield Infant School and Nursery we aim to develop the children’s knowledge of religions, traditions, practices and beliefs centered specifically around Christianity, as well as learning about Judaism and Islam. During these lessons we also celebrate the differences in beliefs within our school community by promoting tolerance and understanding of what is important to others. RE lessons also try to incorporate dates of particular importance and significance to the children that attend our school, for example recently learning about how St. Nicholas Day is celebrated by families from Romania. We also develop the children’s knowledge of key festivals throughout the school year including Christmas, Easter, Chinese New Year, Diwali and Eid.
